Ingredients

10 slices of day-old brioche or challah bread, cut into cubes

8 oz cream cheese, softened and cut into small cubes

1 cup fresh blueberries (or frozen, thawed)

6 large eggs

2 cups whole milk

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup maple syrup (plus extra for serving)

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.

Layer the Bread: Place half of the cubed bread evenly in the bottom of the prepared dish.

Add Cream Cheese and Blueberries: Distribute the cream cheese cubes and blueberries evenly over the bread layer. Top with the remaining bread cubes.

Mix the Custard: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Pour over the Bread: Carefully pour the egg mixture over the layered bread, ensuring it is evenly soaked. Press the bread down gently to submerge any dry pieces.

Soak: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for deeper flavor).

Bake: Remove the foil and drizzle the maple syrup over the top. Bake for approximately 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set.

Serve: Let cool for a few minutes, then dust with powdered sugar (if desired) and serve warm with maple syrup.
