  • 1 loaf hearty crusty bread cut into cubes
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage crumbled and browned
  • 1 cup diced bell peppers
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 13x9 inch baking dish.
  • Cook the crumbled breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned, then remove from heat.
  • Sauté the diced bell peppers and onion in the same skillet until tender, about 5 minutes.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper.
  • Layer half of the cubed bread in the baking dish, followed by half of the sausage, sautéed vegetables, and cheddar cheese.
  • Repeat the layering with the remaining ingredients.
