Ingredients

  • 12 pieces lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package directions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 cup of shredded mozzarella, egg, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir until smooth.
  • Pour a thin layer of marinara sauce into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Place 4 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
  • Add another layer of marinara sauce, followed by another 4 noodles and the remaining ricotta mixture.
  • Top with more marinara sauce and finish with the last 4 noodles.
  • Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the noodles and top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and garnish with fresh basil leaves.

Notes

Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing to maintain its shape.
