Ingredients

  • 9 pieces lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • optional fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the lasagna noodles in boiling salted water until al dente, then drain and lay flat.
  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef until browned, seasoning with salt, pepper, oregano, and garlic powder.
  • Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Layer 3 lasagna noodles, half of the ricotta, half of the ground beef, a third of the mozzarella, and a drizzle of marinara sauce.
  • Repeat the layering with another set of noodles, remaining ricotta, ground beef, more mozzarella, and marinara sauce.
  • For the final layer, add the last 3 noodles, cover with remaining marinara, and sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
