Ingredients

For the Donuts:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 large egg

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

1 tsp vanilla extract

Oil for frying

For the Cinnamon-Sugar Coating:

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon

For the Chocolate Drizzle:

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 tsp coconut oil or vegetable oil

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Whisk together until well mixed.

Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.

Shape the Donuts: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick. Use a donut cutter to cut out donut shapes. Gather the scraps and re-roll to make more donuts.

Heat the Oil: In a deep frying pot or deep fryer, heat enough oil to submerge the donuts (about 3 inches). Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).

Fry Donuts: Carefully drop the donuts into the hot oil, frying a few at a time to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Cinnamon-Sugar Coating: In a bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon together. While the donuts are still warm, toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until completely coated.

Make the Chocolate Drizzle: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil together in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.

Drizzle: Using a fork or a piping bag, drizzle the melted chocolate over the cinnamon-sugar-coated donuts.

Serve: Allow the chocolate to set for a minute before serving your delicious Cinnamon-Sugar Donuts drizzled with chocolate!
