Ingredients

  • 9 pieces lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • for garnish fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or turkey over medium heat until browned, then drain excess fat.
  • Add diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent.
  • Stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning, seasoning with salt and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper until smooth.
  • Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and lay flat.
  • In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce, then lay 3 noodles on top.
  • Spread half of the ricotta mixture, add meat sauce, and sprinkle with a third of the mozzarella.
  • Repeat layering with another set of noodles, remaining ricotta, meat sauce, and another third of mozzarella.
  • Finish with the last 3 noodles, remaining meat sauce, mozzarella, and top with Parmesan cheese.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until cheese is golden.

Notes

Allow the lasagna to cool slightly before slicing for easier serving.
