Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1/2 cup whole milk, warmed to 110°F

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar, plus more for dusting

1 tsp vanilla extract

Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

In a small bowl, combine warmed milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs.

Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2-inch thick. Use a donut cutter or two round cutters to cut out donuts and holes. Place on a floured surface, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the donuts in batches, frying 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

While the donuts cool, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

Once the donuts are cool, use a piping bag with a filling tip or a small knife to create a hole in each donut. Fill generously with whipped cream.

Finally, dust the filled donuts with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy your heavenly treats!
