Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter for greasing

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter.
  • Whisk together heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg in a bowl.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
  • Drizzle half of the cream mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle half of the cheeses on top.
  • Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes until golden brown and tender.
  • Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
