Ingredients

For the Chicken Cordon Bleu:

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

4 slices of ham (preferably Swiss or prosciutto)

4 slices of Swiss cheese

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko preferred for extra crunch)

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp paprika

1/2 cup olive oil (for frying)

For the Creamy Swiss Cheese Sauce:

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Swiss cheese

2 tbsp unsalted butter

1 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 tsp Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken:

    - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

      - Place each chicken breast between two pieces of plastic wrap. Using a meat mallet or rolling pin, pound the chicken to about 1/2 inch thickness.

        - Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

          Assemble the Cordon Bleu:

            - Lay one slice of ham and one slice of Swiss cheese on top of each chicken breast.

              - Carefully roll each chicken breast tightly, starting from one edge, ensuring the ham and cheese are sealed inside. Secure with toothpicks if necessary.

                Bread the Chicken:

                  - Set up a breading station: Place the flour in one bowl, whisk the eggs in another bowl, and put breadcrumbs in a third bowl.

                    - Coat each chicken roll first in flour, making sure to shake off the excess. Then dip in the beaten egg, and finally coat thoroughly in breadcrumbs.

                      Fry the Chicken:

                        - In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.

                          - Once hot, add the chicken rolls to the skillet and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.

                            - Transfer the browned chicken to a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Make the Creamy Swiss Cheese Sauce:

                                - In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk for 1 minute until the mixture is lightly golden.

                                  - Gradually whisk in the heavy cream, and cook until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.

                                    - Reduce the heat to low and stir in the grated Swiss cheese and Dijon mustard. Let it melt and blend, season with salt and pepper to taste.

                                      Serve:

                                        - Once the chicken is done, remove toothpicks if used.

                                          - Slice the chicken Cordon Bleu and drizzle with the creamy Swiss cheese sauce. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.
