Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1 cup warm water (110°F)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)

1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

1/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

1-2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it’s frothy.

Mix Wet Ingredients: Add the melted butter and granulated sugar to the yeast mixture, stirring until combined.

Add Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and ground cinnamon. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring continuously until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Prepare the Cinnamon Filling: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and chopped pecans.

Shape the Bread: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle (approx. 10x15 inches). Spread melted butter over the dough and evenly sprinkle the cinnamon and walnut mixture.

Roll the Dough: Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seams to seal it, then place it seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Create the Swirls: Use a sharp knife to cut the log in half lengthwise. Twist the two halves together, forming a braid-like shape, and tuck the ends in to create a circular loaf if desired.

Second Rise: Cover with a cloth and let rise for another 30 minutes.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake the Bread: Bake the loaf for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more milk or sugar as needed.

Finish the Bread: Once baked, let it cool for about 10 minutes on a wire rack. Drizzle the glaze over the warm bread.

Serve and Enjoy: Slice and serve the warm cinnamon bread, perfect for a cozy treat paired with coffee or tea!
