Ingredients

1 package (8 oz) of cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1/4 cup of fruit preserves (such as raspberry or apricot)

Optional: Zest of 1 lemon (for added flavor)

Optional: Extra powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract (and lemon zest if using) until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

Prepare the Crescent Rolls: Open the package of crescent roll dough and unroll it on a clean surface. Separate the dough into triangles (they'll have lines already marked for you).

Assemble the Danish: Take each triangle of dough and lightly stretch it. Place about a tablespoon of the cream cheese filling at the wider end of each triangle. Top the cream cheese with about a teaspoon of fruit preserves. Roll the dough from the wider end to the tip of the triangle, creating a crescent shape. Press the ends to seal.

Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the Danish with the beaten egg for a golden finish.

Bake the Danish: Place the rolled Danish on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool & Serve: Allow them to cool for a few minutes after baking. If desired, dust with extra powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy your delightful cheese Danish!
