Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 8 lasagna noodles broken
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a large pot, heat olive oil and cook the Italian sausage until browned.
  • Add diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until onion is translucent.
  • Pour in crushed tomatoes, broth, and water; add dried basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes.
  • Season with salt and pepper, bring to a simmer.
  • Add broken lasagna noodles and cook until tender, about 10-12 minutes.
