Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef flank steak thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper julienned
  • 1 green bell pepper julienned
  • 1 medium onion sliced into thin strips
  • 3 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger finely minced
  • 3 tablespoons Hunan chili paste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 2 green onions finely chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  • Add the thinly sliced beef to the hot skillet and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add minced garlic, minced ginger, and sliced onion. Stir-fry for 2 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  • Add the julienned red and green bell peppers and stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.
  • Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Add Hunan chili paste, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sugar. Stir to coat everything.
  • Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to meld flavors and thicken the sauce.
  • Remove from heat and garnish with finely chopped green onions before serving.
