To fully appreciate the Kentucky Hot Brown Sliders, it's essential to understand the history of their original counterpart. The Kentucky Hot Brown was created in the 1920s at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. Chef Fred K. Schmidt invented this decadent dish as a late-night meal for hotel guests, combining turkey, bacon, and a rich Mornay sauce—an indulgent cheese sauce that elevates the dish to gourmet status.

Ingredients

12 slider buns

1 pound sliced turkey breast

1 cup cooked bacon, crumbled

1 cup sliced tomatoes

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup creamy béchamel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Slice the slider buns in half horizontally and line the bottom halves in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.

Layer the turkey breast evenly over the bun bottoms.

Add a generous layer of crumbled bacon, followed by a layer of sliced tomatoes.

Drizzle the béchamel sauce over the tomatoes, ensuring an even distribution.

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously over the top.

Place the top halves of the buns onto the layered ingredients to close the sliders.

In a small bowl, mix the garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the slider buns.

Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the buns are golden brown.

Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.

Slice and serve warm, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
