Ingredients

2 large apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and diced

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup cornstarch

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons butter

Fresh apple slices and cinnamon for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Apples: In a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the diced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the apples are softened. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.

Make the Pudding Base: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and salt. Gradually mix in the milk and heavy cream, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.

Cook the Pudding: Pour the milk mixture into a clean saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble. This should take about 5-10 minutes.

Combine Apples and Pudding: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Add the sautéed apple mixture to the thickened pudding, gently folding to combine.

Set the Pudding: Transfer the mixture to serving bowls or a large dish. Allow the pudding to cool to room temperature, then cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set.

Serve: Once set, garnish with fresh apple slices and a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired. Serve chilled.
