Ingredients

12 lasagna noodles

1 pound ground beef

1 pound Italian sausage

1 large onion, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

28 ounces crushed tomatoes

15 ounces ricotta cheese

1 large egg

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 cups fresh spinach

1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, Italian sausage, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the meat is browned and the onion is soft, about 7-9 minutes.

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt and pepper until well combined.

To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce at the bottom of a baking dish. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top.

Spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of spinach, then 1/3 of the meat sauce, and a layer of mozzarella.

Repeat the process two more times (noodles, ricotta, spinach, meat sauce, mozzarella), finishing with a layer of noodles topped with remaining meat sauce and a final sprinkle of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil (avoid touching the cheese) and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Allow the lasagna to cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
