Ingredients

  • 12 pieces lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • for garnish fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned, about 7-10 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until creamy.
  • Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then drain.
  • Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Layer 4 noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, half of the meat mixture, a third of the mozzarella, and some marinara sauce.
  • Repeat with another 4 noodles, remaining ricotta, remaining meat, another third of mozzarella, and more marinara.
  • Top with the last 4 noodles, remaining marinara, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes.
  • Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and garnish with fresh basil.
