Ingredients

  • 2 packages frozen cheese ravioli
  • 1 lb Italian sausage casings removed
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned, breaking it apart.
  • Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until onion is translucent.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning; add red pepper flakes if desired.
  • Pour in marinara sauce, stir, and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of the sausage mixture, then half of the ravioli.
  • Add dollops of half the ricotta and half the mozzarella, then repeat layers.
  • Top with remaining mozzarella and all of the Parmesan cheese.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  • Let rest for 10 minutes, garnish with fresh basil, slice, and serve.
