4 large eggs

1 cup granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups whole milk

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (plus extra for garnish)

1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)

1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the pie dish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your 9-inch pie dish with butter.

    Prepare the Pie Crust: If you’re using a homemade pie crust, roll it out and fit it into the greased pie dish. Trim and crimp the edges. If using a store-bought crust, fit it into the pie dish as directed.

      Whisk the Eggs: In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs until they are frothy and well-blended.

        Combine the Ingredients: Add the sugar, salt, and vanilla extract to the egg mixture; whisk until combined. Gradually stir in the whole milk.

          Add Nutmeg: Sprinkle in the ground nutmeg and stir gently to incorporate without overmixing.

            Pour into Crust: Carefully pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust, filling it until almost full.

              Bake the Pie: Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until the custard is set and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. The top may puff up slightly but will settle upon cooling.

                Cool and Garnish: Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool at room temperature for about 1 hour. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
