  • ¼ cup apple juice
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions thinly sliced

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together soy sauce, apple juice, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  • Add chicken pieces to the marinade, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Remove chicken from marinade and sear in the skillet for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  • Pour leftover marinade into a saucepan and bring to a boil, then simmer.
  • Mix cornstarch with cold water to form a slurry and add to the simmering sauce, stirring until thickened.
  • Pour thickened sauce over cooked chicken and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Garnish with sliced green onions and serve over rice or noodles.
