Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 large potatoes peeled and cubed
  • ½ cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • In a large pot, place the peeled and cubed potatoes, cover with cold water, and bring to a boil.
  • Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes, then drain and return to pot.
  • Add butter and milk to the drained potatoes and mash until smooth and creamy, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat, then sauté onion and garlic until soft.
  • Add ground beef to the skillet, cooking until fully browned and crumbled, about 5-7 minutes, draining excess fat if necessary.
  • Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture, stir to combine, and cook for 1 minute.
  • Gradually pour in beef broth while stirring to prevent lumps, then mix in Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce.
  • Allow the mixture to simmer for 5-10 minutes until thickened to desired consistency.
  • Serve mashed potatoes on plates, ladling the beef and gravy mixture generously over them.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

For extra richness, consider using cream in the mashed potatoes.
