Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup 10.5 oz
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley or chives for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces.
  • Drain excess fat and set the beef aside.
  • Sauté the chopped onion in the same skillet until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.
  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
  • Add half of the cooked beef and onion mixture, then sprinkle half of the cheese on top.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef mixture, and cheese.
  • Pour the creamy soup mixture evenly over the casserole.
