Ingredients

2 large red onions, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon sumac

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish (optional)

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the sliced red onions, olive oil, sumac, salt, and black pepper. Toss well to ensure the onions are evenly coated with the oil and seasonings.

Let the onions marinate for at least 15 minutes at room temperature. This will help the flavors meld together and soften the onions slightly.

After marinating, drizzle the lemon juice over the onions and toss gently once more to mix.

If desired, cover the bowl and refrigerate for an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour to further enhance the flavors.

Before serving, garnish with chopped fresh parsley for an added touch of color and flavor.

Enjoy your sumac onions as a tangy topping for grilled meats, salads, or as a side dish with your favorite Mediterranean meal!
