Ingredients

12 large pasta shells

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

½ cup parmesan cheese, grated

1 cup spinach, chopped and cooked (optional)

1 egg, beaten

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 cups marinara sauce

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Pasta Shells: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta shells and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process.

Make the Cheese Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, ½ cup of mozzarella, parmesan, cooked spinach (if using), beaten egg, garlic powder, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Stuff the Shells: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Using a teaspoon, generously fill each pasta shell with the cheese mixture and place them seam-side up in the baking dish.

Add Sauce and Cheese: Once all shells are filled, pour the remaining marinara sauce evenly over the stuffed shells. Sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella cheese on top.

Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and golden.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let it sit for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
