Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey sausage

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups milk (whole or 2%)

1 cup chicken broth

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for spice)

2 tbsp butter

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground turkey sausage. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Create a Roux: Reduce heat to medium-low. Add butter to the skillet with the sausage and let it melt. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir to combine, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until the mixture is light golden brown. This is your roux.

Add Liquids: Gradually whisk in the milk and chicken broth, ensuring there are no lumps.

Season: Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper if using. Stir well to combine all ingredients and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

Thicken the Gravy: Continue to cook, stirring frequently, for about 5-10 minutes, until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.

Serve: Once thickened, taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot over biscuits, toast, or your favorite breakfast items. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
