Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

Optional: colored sugar or sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar together using an electric mixer until fluffy and pale in color, about 3-5 minutes.

      Add the vanilla extract and mix until well combined.

        Gradually add in the flour and salt, mixing until the dough is just combined. The dough will be soft but not too sticky.

          Using a piping bag fitted with a star tip, pipe small rosettes or circles onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.

            If desired, sprinkle colored sugar or sprinkles on top of the unbaked cookies for a festive touch.

              Bake in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Do not overbake; the cookies should remain pale.

                Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
