Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast

½ cup whole milk, warmed to about 110°F

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Filling:

2 large apples, peeled and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon cinnamon

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 ½ cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon milk (or as needed)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

      - In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Pour in melted butter, yeast mixture, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until a sticky dough forms.

        - Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it's smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

          Prepare the Filling:

            - In a bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Set aside.

              Roll Out the Dough:

                - Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Roll it out into a 16x12-inch rectangle on a floured surface.

                  Assemble the Rolls:

                    - Spread the softened butter over the surface of the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Evenly sprinkle the apple mixture over the buttered dough.

                      - Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seams to seal it, then slice the log into 12 equal pieces.

                                      - Once the rolls are out of the oven, allow them to cool for about 10 minutes before spreading the cream cheese frosting on top.
