Ingredients

For the Donuts:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

3/4 cup buttermilk (or milk with 1 tbsp vinegar)

2 large eggs

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 tsp vanilla extract

Oil for frying

For the Glaze:

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

3 tbsp milk (adjust for desired consistency)

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Form the Donuts: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it until it’s soft and pliable (about 1-2 minutes). Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thick. Use a donut cutter (or two round cutters of different sizes) to cut out the donuts.

Heat the Oil: In a deep frying pan or deep fryer, heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Make sure the oil is deep enough for the donuts to float.

Fry the Donuts: Carefully place a few donuts into the hot oil, frying them for about 1 minute on each side until they are golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain them on paper towels. Repeat with the remaining dough.

Make the Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more milk or powdered sugar as needed.

Glaze the Donuts: While the donuts are still warm, dip the tops into the glaze. Place them on a wire rack to allow the excess glaze to drip off. For extra sweetness, you can add sprinkles on top before the glaze sets.

Serve and Enjoy: Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes, then serve the donuts warm and fresh. Enjoy the melt-in-your-mouth texture!
